Dr. R. Prasad Velaga,
President
 Dr. Velaga has more than 25 years of research and practical experience in
scheduling, optimization and simulations. Since 1983, Dr. Velaga has been serving as a consultant to
manufacturing industries for improving productivity and quality. He has extensive experience
in modeling and analysis of complex physical systems by quantitative approach and simulation methods. He acquired
valuable experience and skills in the design and development of powerful,
scientific software solutions for scheduling a variety of complex
production systems. His specialty is resource-constrained
planning and scheduling of operations.
Dr. Velaga has broad experience
in solution development for a variety of systems. As an Operations Research
consultant on a WHO project on primary health care systems, he
carried out simulations of patient flow in hospitals for assessing
resource and material needs. His experience also includes
development of intelligent decision support systems and scheduling
software for improving productivity of MRO units, development of supply chain solutions for cash management at thousands of ATMs and
branches of large banks, and simulations of a large steel
processing unit to study the workflow and assess the exact
requirements of material handling equipment. Since 2004, his focus
has been exclusively on scheduling solutions for high-mix,
low-volume production and project-based production. Dr. Velaga worked as the technical lead in numerous
projects to develop and implement production scheduling systems
in job shops.
Dr. Velaga received his PhD degree in
scheduling methodology from Indian
Statistical Institute, which is one of the most reputed
research centers in India. He has many research publications in
scheduling and optimization. He served as tenured or visiting
faculty at Indian
Statistical Institute, Washington State
University, Pullman and Texas A&M University, College Station
and worked as research scientist at Knowledge Based Systems, Inc. He also worked as a scheduling & optimization
specialist at i2 Technologies, an internationally reputed vendor
of supply chain management software. Dr. Velaga’s primary goal is
to provide job shops with simple, effective and affordable
software solutions for efficient production planning and
management.
